CLARE'S STORY

Making SEND law clearer for parents navigating the system
I founded SEND Law Unravelled following my own experience of navigating the SEND system for my child.
I understand how frustrating it can be to sit in meetings where the law feels like a different language, while trying to advocate for your child within a system that can feel overwhelming.
Through that experience, I realised that while the legal framework exists to protect children, it is rarely explained clearly to the people who need it most, parents.
Professional Expertise
I have always had a strong interest in the law and hold a Law Degree, with a clear understanding of how legal frameworks are intended to protect individual rights.
To build on this, I completed IPSEA’s SEND Law training (Levels 1–3), giving me a detailed understanding of the legal framework that underpins support for children and young people with SEND.
This allows me to combine legal knowledge with real-world experience to provide guidance that is both accurate and practical.
My aim is to bridge the gap between complex law and everyday reality, helping parents understand not just what the law says, but how to use it.
Supporting parents to understand their child’s rights, review key documents such as EHCPs and feel more confident navigating decisions, meetings, and next steps.

My Mission
At SEND Law Unravelled, my goal is to help parents understand the law that underpins decisions about their child’s support.
When you understand how the system is meant to work, you are in a far stronger position to ask the right questions, challenge decisions and advocate effectively.
Through group workshops and 1:1 guidance, I help you to:
-
Break down complex legal jargon into clear, practical steps
-
Understand your child’s legal rights and what should be happening
-
Build the confidence to advocate effectively in meetings and decision-making
So you are not left trying to navigate a complex system without understanding how it works.
